'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date slated for 2016; title already in development

Fans have been constantly bugging Rockstar Games for sequels of their highly popular titles such as “Grand Theft Auto” and “Red Dead Redemption.” It is clear that “GTA 6” is still a long way to go, but is “Red Dead Redemption 2” coming next year?

During Take Two Interactive’s, the publisher of the game, earnings conference call for the second quarter of fiscal year 2016, Karl Slatoff, president of the company, revealed that their team have a lot of games in store for the fans in the years to come. He said, “Our worldwide development teams are working on numerous unannounced projects, including new intellectual properties, and offerings from our established franchises.” Website WCCF Tech suggested that at least one of these new projects will be “Red Dead Redemption 2.”

The guess was further strengthened when former Rockstar Games employee Danny Ross answered a fan’s question on Reddit about what Rockstar Games is currently working on. Ross replied, “Really? Dumbass. Really? Two” which is RDR2 when condensed. RDR2 may also mean “Red Dead Redemption 2” when each starting letter is taken and decoded against the list of titles released by the developers.

Of course, there is still a possibility that Ross is simply teasing fans. However, it is more likely true than not, as the rumors for a 2016 release has long been going around for “Red Dead Redemption 2.” Around three months ago, a Reddit user named AnonDN1978, who said that he was from Rockstar, also said that the game will be released next year and even revealed that the upcoming game will be called “Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West.” Additionally, he said that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will have a total of three characters two playable and one additional customizable.

At the moment, Take Two Interactive and Rockstar Games have not said a word regarding the spoilers.

The game will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One once it hits the market.
