'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date update: new game could have a couple of protagonists

The game has yet to be confirmed but the level of anticipation and interest toward “Red Dead Redemption 2” is unprecedented. The game developer, Rockstar Games, is currently bombarded with all sorts of questions about which games the company is really focused on as the clamor for another game, “Grand Theft Auto VI,” is also quite high.

Prior to last June’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, there were already a lot of rumors about a sequel to the popular open world, action-adventure video game, although everything went for naught because the rumored game was a no-show at the event.

Citing several recent reports, Gamerant said that the rumored game could feature dual protagonists, which obviously is a complete deviation from the original concept of the first two games in the series, where the focus was a central storyline revolving around first, Red Harlow, and second, John Marston.

Then again, this is simply another rumor that can either be true or untrue, depending primarily on where it came from. But the fact that a story like it reached several publications is one good indication that the game could very well be underway or at least is currently being developed.

If there is one game developer that can make it happen, it should be Rockstar, as the company has proven all throughout its popular “GTA” series that a game that features more than one protagonist can be exciting and at the same time effective.

At this point, fans of “Red Dead Redemption” are hoping that a sequel finally will be announced or at least mentioned at next week’s Gamescon 2016, but that also could be a long shot considering how preoccupied Rockstar is for the moment. And if ever the game finally is revealed, will the concept of dual protagonists be included?

“Red Dead Redemption 2” is expected to be developed and released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
