'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date update: game's release to coincide with two consoles' launch

There seems to be no letup when it comes to the pressure fans of the Western action-adventure video game, “Red Dead Redemption” are giving to the game developer, Rockstar Games regarding the release of the sequel, “Red Dead Redemption 2.” However, Rockstar isn’t budging as rumors have it that it only will make information available about the new game the moment the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft are released.

Well, this probably is the main reason why Rockstar is keeping itself mum all this time. Citing several reports online, IB Times reported that the sequel to the 2010 video game will be arriving in the same timeframe with that of the new iterations of Sony and Microsoft’s existing consoles the PlayStation 4 Pro and Project Scorpio.

But the obvious issue here is that the PS4 Pro has already been confirmed by Sony for a November release, but Microsoft’s Project Scorpio is nowhere to be found as of the moment. Therefore, it’s pretty difficult to project where “Red Dead Redemption 2” will put itself. Will it be released anytime within the PS4 Pro’s release or will it wait for Project Scorpio?

Obviously, it is safer to bet for a release together with Project Scorpio since a November date with PS4 Pro looks highly unlikely considering that Rockstar has not provided any details about the rumored game up to this point, suggesting that it may still be either in its planning stage or early development stage.

Another report talked about speculations that Rockstar might release “Red Dead Redemption 2” right after the launch of another upcoming game, “Mafia 3,” which is already confirmed for Oct. 7. However, one can’t help but wonder why “Mafia 3” already has an official release date and “Red Dead Redemption 2” does not. The only explanation is simply because there’s probably very little progress to report or unveil.
