'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date news: Rockstar releases official announcement

Rockstar Games recently announced that the latest addition in the Red Dead franchise, “Red Dead Redemption 2,” will be launched for PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One in fall 2017.  Exciting events are teased in its trailer debut.

Specific date of the release of the game has not been announced yet. According to the PlayStation blog, Cowen & Company foresees that a conservative estimate of 15 million copies will be sold, even better if “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be released for Nintendo NX and PC  a feat that is possible with the thousands of fans supporting the game.

Gameplay details have not been revealed, but there have been rumors that “Red Dead Redemption 2” may feature seven playable heroes which may include the original central character John Marston, and the rest of the Williamson gang. More playable characters equals better gameplay, showcasing unique traits, and items at the user’s fingertips.

“Red Dead Redemption 2” will be a prequel, a fitting extension of the game tracing back to the story arc of the first version which was “Death of the West.” Based on the trailer, horse riding, trekking the desert, and bandit shooting will be part of the prequel’s gameplay. As summarized on the official website, “An epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in an MKM partners event held last Nov. 17 that the fans can expect “incredible emotional depth” as well as “great story elements and great gameplay elements.” He also stated that the time is right for the game to be released, a statement that would really please the fans.

Rockstar is also the developer of the iconic “Grand Theft Auto” game franchise.

“Red Dead Redemption 2” will come out in fall 2017.
