The alleged map of the long rumored sequel game “Red Dead Redemption 2” recently leaked online, showing a bigger location for the game as well as possible new ways to travel such as swimming or traveling through boats. The map was confirmed by alleged sources, which makes it the first significant update regarding the sequel in almost six years following the original game’s release.

Just recently, NeoGAF user Mideon posted on the gaming forums an alleged leaked map of what was claimed to be that of the upcoming “Red Dead Redemption 2” game. The map appeared to be far from being complete, and actually looked like to be in the earliest stages of designing.

Curiously, the alleged map featured a location called New Bordeaux, which some gamers might recognize from the setting of the upcoming “Mafia III” game, which will be published also by “Red Dead Redemption” publisher Take-Two Interactive through Hangar 13. New Bordeaux, in “Mafia III,” is the fictional name of New Orleans.

Another curious part of the leaked map is the Great Plains, which is located on the top right corner of the map of the original “Red Dead Redemption” game, which is now found at the bottom left of the leaked map, suggesting that the map may be set on the eastern side of the original game setting.

As reported by Tech Radar, an anonymous source confirmed that the leaked map is actually from the new “Red Dead Redemption” game that is currently in development.

The game had long been rumored to take on the events prior to the story of the original game, making it more of a prequel game than a sequel.

The leaked map also features more bodies of water compared to the first bone. With this, it is expected that should the map prove to be true, players may be able to swim or take a boat to travel across waterssomething that was not available for players in the original game.
