'Real Housewives of Atlanta' season 8 news: NeNe Leakes is back; Rep. Federica Wilson cameos to mentor Phaedra Parks for her mentoring program initiative

In an exciting turn of events in Bravo’s hit reality series “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” former star NeNe Leakes returns for a short appearance that surprises the other cast members.

Back in June, NeNe  announced that she will not reprise her part for the eight season as she will try to do other projects in Broadway. However, in the latest episode of the show titled “Ms. Parks Goes to Washington,” she has joined the ladies in their Jamaica trip.

In the installment, she stops by Cynthia Bailey’s house before going to Jamaica, the latter then confronted her about being blocked on Twitter, “Speaking of social media, I need you to block me missy,” Cynthia says to Nene which she replied with a seeming nonchalance saying, “Do I have you blocked?”

Talking to the camera, she revealed that she wants to go back to being her fabulous self, and in order to do so, she has to block some people on her social media accounts. “But I’ve opened up those doors to Cynthia again, so I think it’s ok now,” NeNe concluded.

Meanwhile, in one of the upcoming episodes of the show, the narrative takes a serious note as Congress Representative Frederica Wilson makes a cameo.

It is said that Wilson got a call from Phaedra Parks in October last year. She inquired about wanting to kick-start a mentoring program for African-American boys in Georgia. Wilson has her own mentoring program called 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project which was established in 1993.

“They asked would I basically mentor Phaedra, and they wanted to film it in our office. And I was excited about it,” Wilson revealed.

When asked if she has hesitations to appear in a series known for its high drama, “Not at all. I’m excited about any initiative that is going to help children,” she answered.

New episodes of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” airs Sundays at 8 P.M. on Bravo.
