The previous episodes of the second season left a number of plot twists, but in the 13th episode of “Quantico,” the dots are starting to connect. The series showrunner, Josh Safran, shares some insights of the plot and what to expect in the last nine episodes.
In the episode titled “Epicshelter,” Will (Jay Armstrong Johnson) and Alex (Priyanka Chopra) failed to stop Lydia (Tracy Ifeachor) from uploading the contents of the hard drives she had kept hidden from the terrorists. The hard drives contained U.S. surveillance information.
President Claire Haas (Marcia Cross) believed that the data is now accessible by the terrorists and suspected terrorists. To prevent a potential coordinated terror attacks, Claire formed a joint task force.
“Basically the drive of America’s surveillance for the last several years has been released. The people behind the AIC wanted the drives for themselves, but they weren’t able to at the G-20 because our guys got there first to stop them,” Safran explained Claire’s plan to Entertainment Weekly.
“Now that it’s out in the world, we have to monitor and see who’s accessing it because that’ll lead us to who those people behind the AIC are before they do something worse,” he added.
In the episode, the elite team will report to Caleb (Graham Rogers). “He is coming back,” Safran said, confirming the return of Caleb and Harry (Russell Tovey).
The task force included Alex, Ryan (Jake McLaughlin), Nimah (Yasmine al Massri), Shelby (Johanna Braddy), and Dayana (Pearl Thusi).
When asked how they chose the members of the A-Team in the show, Safran said that Shelby is a great FBI agent, like Alex. Ryan was a former FBI and now a member of the CIA operative with Dayana. However, the executive director hinted that Nimah is a “warning,” and that somebody is missing in the lineup.
Furthermore, Safran hinted that there would be a struggle between Alex and Ryan. He stated that the upcoming episodes would be about chasing the people behind the terrorist attacks.
“Quantico” season 2 returns on March 20.
