When news broke out that “Prison Break” was coming back to the small screen for its fifth season, fans were clearly excited to see Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), and the gang once again.
A study by analytics firm ListenFirst Media (via Variety) even revealed that the series was the most talked-about show on major social networks since the first trailer came out in May.
While FOX has yet to announce the official premiere date for the upcoming season, reports say “Prison Break” season 5 may air later this year, most probably in December. Other sources claim that the show will premiere in April 2017. A March 2017 premiere is also possible since the writers involved with the upcoming season say that the show will probably come out before April 2017.
Executive producer Vaun Wilmott also made a post on his Twitter account revealing that filming is almost done.
Meanwhile, the trailer shows that the storyline for this season will revolve around Lincoln’s attempt to break his brother Michael out of a prison in Yemen. Michael seemingly died in the season 4 finale, so his return is a definitely a surprise to fans of the series.
Other reports stated that the season might take place in Morocco. It should be noted that season 5 was shot in Morocco and Canada.
Unlike previous seasons, “Prison Break” season 5 will only have 10 episodes.
Besides Miller and Purcell, Robert Knepper, Amaury Nolasco, Rockmond Dunbar, and Sarah Wayne Callies will be returning to play Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell, Fernando Sucre, Benjamin Miles “C-Note” Franklin, and Sara Tancredi, respectively.
New additions to the cast include Mark Feuerstein, Marina Benedict, Augustus Prew, Rick Yune, and Steve Mouzakis.
Reports are saying that Sara will be married to the character played by Feuerstein and she has apparently moved on from Michael. The season will show Michael attempting to reconcile with Sara and reconnect with their son.
