The “Prison Break” revival is still a long way off as the series won’t be returning until 2017, but to ease fans’ frustrations over the long wait, the writers of the FOX series took to social media to answer a few questions about the upcoming installment.
The Prison Break Writers Twitter account had a Q&A on Sept. 28 and confirmed that Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) will have new enemies when the show returns. While it’s no secret that Michael will be facing some new challenges in the revival, fans are just glad that the character is alive and well since the season 4 finale which aired in 2009 made it look as though he had died.
Prison Break Writers also revealed that fans are in for an emotional scene later in the season, tweeting, “There is a scene in episode 8 that will make all of us weep together.” It’s likely that the scene will involve Michael’s first meeting with his son. In the finale, it was revealed that Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) was pregnant with Michael’s child. It’s also possible that the scene could have Michael, Sara, and their son all together for the first time.
When asked if fans will find out about what happened in between the last series and the upcoming revival, PBW said, “Obviously we don’t have time for every update, but we will get a glimpse into the intervening years.” It’s likely that some scenes will reveal how Michael faked his death and how the rest of the characters fared after the season 4 finale.
While “Prison Break” season 5 does not have an official air date yet, PBW said that there is a possibility for another season after the new one, saying, “If the numbers are high, anything is possible.”
Along with Michael and Sara, the “Prison Break” revival will see returning characters Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), Sucre (Amaury Nolasco), T-Bag (Robert Knepper), C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar), and Kellerman (Paul Adelstein).
“Prison Break” season 5 premieres in spring 2017 on FOX.
