It has been quite a while since “Predator” fans heard news about a sequel on the film. However, Fred Dekker, who will be responsible for the screenplay of “Predator 4” took on his Facebook page last week to at least give a glimpse on their plans moving forward.
He said, “I cannot say where I was this morning, or what I saw, or what we talked about. But if you are a PREDATOR fan? One word: YES.”
Although he did not explicitly explain what “yes” means, it is most likely referring to a significant progress in the sequel. However, it is still unclear at which stage are they already for “Predator 4.” According to Cinema Blend, it may pertain to having found some location or having finished the script. It may even pertain to pinning down details about the upcoming film, perhaps about its plot and storyline.
Despite the lack of details, fans are generally excited about the news. Some fans are more aggressive as they tried their luck to get more information about the update. However, Dekker remained tight-lipped on anything about “Predator 4” at the moment.
Two years ago, director Shane Black revealed in an interview with Collider that for him and Dekker, the sequel will definitely not be a reboot of the original “Predator.”
He said, “Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?” He further explained that he prefers to infuse creativity in sequels and “the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.”
It is highly possible that Black and Dekker are still looking into the same direction for the upcoming film. More details about the upcoming movie may be revealed soon.
“Predator” is a science fiction and horror film that initially aired in 1987, followed by sequels in 1990 and 2010. The plans about “Predator 4” initially started in 2014.
