'Pokmon Sun and Moon' game news: Solgaleo, Lunala revealed as new Legendary Pokmon

The Pokmon Company International and Nintendo finally revealed the name, powers, and abilities of the two new Legendary Pokmons that will be featured in the upcoming new core Pokmon games that will be released, “Pokmon Sun” and “Pokmon Moon.” New characters as well as more details about the game were also announced.

In a press release by Nintendo, the names of the two new Legendary Pokmons from “Pokmon Sun” and “Pokmon Moon” were revealed: the bright Solgaleo and Lunala. The names of these two new Pokmons are unsurprisingly the same ones that were rumored in the past.

Solgaleo was revealed to be a Sunne category Pokmon. Following what was started in Pokmon “Omega Ruby” and “Alpha Sapphire,” these two new Legendry Pokmons are both dual-type Pokmons. Solgaleo is a Psychic and Steel type Pokmon. This Legendary Pokmon is referred to as “the beast that devours the sun.” Holding a lot of light in its body, Solgaleo shines brightly once this power of light becomes activated.

Moreover, Solgaleo has a new ability that previous Pokmons never had. With this, Solgaleo’s stats cannot be lowered by the effects of an opponent’s moves or ability. Meanwhile, the Pokemon’s signature move is called Sunsteel Strike. With Sunsteel Strike, Solgaleo launches an attack that charges at an opponent with the force of a meteor, nullifying any effect the opponent’s Pokmon may have.

Lunala, on the other hand, is a Psychic and Ghost type Pokmon that is classified as a Moone Pokmon. Lunala also possesses an ability new to the world of Pokmon, Shadow Shield. With this ability, a Pokmon will take less damage from an attack that lands when the Pokmon has full HP.

Lunala’s signature move is called Moongeist Beam. This attack also disregards whatever ability the opponent Pokmon may have.

“Pokmon Sun” and “Pokmon Moon” will be released for the Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 18.
