'Pokmon' news: Nintendo announces 'Pokmon Sun,' 'Pokmon Moon'


Nintendo announced the two new core Pokmon games that will be released this year”Pokmon Sun” and “Pokmon Moon.” Announced during the most recent Pokmon Direct online streaming season, the games will also come with new features that will be available across all other games in all of the platforms the Pokmon franchise has been on. Likewise, new languages players can play the game with will be added.

In the most recent Pokmon Direct video session, Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO and President of The Pokmon Company hosted the short presentation, where he debuted the first teaser trailer for “Pokmon Sun” and “Pokmon Moon.” Both games will be available for the Nintendo 3DS within the holiday season of this year.

While the teaser and the presentation did not discuss any new gameplay features or new Pokmon that will be coming to the game, Ishihara did announce that Nintendo will release “Pokmon Sun” and “Pokmon Moon” with support for nine different languages: English, Italian, Spanish, Korean, French, German, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

“We hope that through Pokmon, players can overcome the language barrier and interact with other players from around the world,” Ishihara said.

Along with the arrival of the two new core Pokmon games is the introduction of the new Pokmon Bank feature, which will enable players who play the virtual console editions of the original “Pokmon Red,” “Pokmon Blue,” and “Pokmon Yellow” to transfer their Pokmon from the game to “Pokmon Sun” and “Pokmon Moon.” Players can also transfer their Pokmon to the new games from “Pokmon Omega Ruby,” “Pokmon Alpha Sapphire,” “Pokmon X,” and “Pokmon Y” in the same way. However, players cannot transfer Pokmon from the Game Boy virtual console games directly to Pokmon Omega Ruby,” “Pokmon Alpha Sapphire,” “Pokmon X,” and “Pokmon Y” via the Pokmon Bank.
