'Pokmon GO' Eevee evolution name hack confirmed by Niantic Labs CEO

It was not just the trailers of the superhero movies that were unveiled during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The CEO of Niantic Labs, John Hanke, also revealed that there are a lot of Easter eggs within “Pokmon GO” that hint at how to gain specific pocket monsters.

The Pokmon that Hanke highlighted was Eevee and its evolutions. A lot of gamers who have been playing the mobile app have been trying their best to collect the three evolutions of the Pokmon, which are Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon. However, Hanke has mentioned that there is a trick to it in order to get those evolutions. He stated that there is a name hack for the Pokmon, where users should name Eevee a certain way, in order to get its other evolutions.

It was said that the idea was actually an Easter egg and that it came from one of the episodes of the animated series of “Pokmon,” specifically the one titled “The Battling Eevee Brothers.” During that episode, it was the first time that the three Eevee evolutions were shown in the series. That episode also focused on three brothers who had the three evolutions of the Pokmon.

Each of the brothers had a name. It is said that once you use their names to name one of the player’s Eevee, the Pokmon will evolve accordingly. For example, when the player uses the name Rainer, Eevee will evolve into Vaporeon. For Jolteon, it is suggested that the player must use the name Sparky and Eevee will evolve. If players are interested in getting Flareon, they need to name it Pyro.

Naming the Pokmon will be the first step since players still need to follow the necessary steps in evolving Pokmon in “Pokmon GO.” If the users don’t like the names that should be used, they can change it once the Pokmon has already evolved.
