The “Pokemon GO” Fest is less than a week away, and players in Chicago are expecting to have a grand time in the day-long affair. Thankfully, players outside of the windy city can also take part in the experience, to a certain extent.
According to Polygon, players outside of Chicago will also have their own set of challenges and rewards. Players who catch as many Pokemon within the challenge window will be able to extend their special bonuses. The bonuses, however, only cover the ones for the Pokemon GO Fest.
Players in Europe, on the other hand, will have their own special Safari Zone-themed events slated later this summer. The Czech Republic and Denmark will get the first crack of the festivities on Aug. 5. Sweden, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Spain will follow later in the month, all the way to September, the report added. Through the themed events, Europe-based players will get the chance to catch Pokemon that were previously unavailable in the continent.
Meanwhile, game developer Niantic explained that participants in Chicago will “need to carefully choose which Pokémon they catch” at the park. This is because each Pokemon type “will be tied to a different perk.”
The event in Chicago will be divided into three phases. These phases are the Catch Challenge, the Mystery Challenge, and the Global Reward. The first phase involves collectively catching Pokemon to unlock bronze, silver, and gold tier rewards. The challenge windows will be from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The second phase prompts players to achieve gold tier in Phase 1 to unlock the Mystery Challenge in Grant Park. The challenge window for Phase 2 will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Lastly, Phase 3 challenges players to complete Phase 2’s Mystery Challenge. Doing so would unlock “a major global reward” that will drop from July 23 to 24.
