PlayStation Plus May 2016 free games list: Sony's offers

For all Sony and PlayStation fans, here is this month’s list of free games offered with Sony’s PlayStation Plus program.

For the month of May, Sony listed a total of six games for the PlayStation Plus premium online service. The listing offered at least two games each for all of Sony’s video gaming devices: home console units PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 and the mobile PlayStation Vita platform.

Foremost among them is “Tropico 5”, available for the PlayStation 4. Other PlayStation 4 free games are “Table Top Racing: World Tour” and “Switch Galaxy Ultra.”

“Switch Galaxy Ultra” is also available for the PlayStation Vita, which also has “God of War: Ghost of Sparta” as another free offering. For free games for Sony’s previous generation console, PlayStation 3 players may now get their hands on “Bionic Commando Rearmed 2” and “LocoRoco Cocoreccho” if they do not have those games yet.

To those unfamiliar with the PlayStation Plus program and why it has free games, it is Sony’s premium online play service. Much like Microsoft’s Xbox Live for the Xbox consoles, PlayStation Plus is Sony’s online network for the PlayStation.

However, unlike Microsoft’s Xbox Live, Sony’s PlayStation Plus does not have a basic free version like the Xbox Live Silver label. Users who wish to make use of PlayStation Plus must pay for subscription first.

To entice prospective PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony offers a collection of free games every month that users may download. After downloading, they belong to the user’s account and available for play for as long as the account is active.

The PlayStation Plus’ free games are only available for during their designated month. If players want to get their hands on the games mentioned above, they have to download the titles now.
