'Persona 5' release date, news: first English gameplay live stream this November 16; new character Morgana introduced

Players located in the western side of the world can tune in to the upcoming English live stream gameplay presentation for “Persona 5” slated to happen this Nov. 16.

According to Heavy, the U.S. arm of game developer Atlus revealed that the presentation will begin at 12 p.m. PST or at 3 p.m. EST and can be viewed on their Twitch channel.

The official press statement reads, “We’re the Phantom Thieves of Hearts and we’re back to leak some more juicy ‘Persona 5’ news! We’ve successfully forced Atlus to finally show the first English gameplay of ‘Persona 5,’ and they’re going to debut it at their ‘Let Us Start the Game’ live stream event on November 16. We’re warning them to make it the biggest live stream they’ve ever done, so expect special guest, giveaways, and the latest ‘Persona 5’ news.”

On a related note, the developers recently introduced the newest member of the Phantom Thieves, Morgana. The Japanese role-playing video game’s mascot character will be a playable party member as well. Giving life to the role is “Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror” voice actress Cassandra Morris.

Morgana is described to be a mysterious creature dressed in many forms. Aside from the usual black and white cat adorned with a yellow collar, she can also take on a more anthropomorphic version of the feline. Moreover, she can also be a bus for the team to ride in during missions. She even transforms into Zorro.

In an interview with Atlus USA PR manager John Hardin, Morris said that she felt pressure in trying to correctly portray the part of Morgana.

“This character is going to be in your face throughout the whole game. It’s a main character. I have to be able to bring it,” she explained.

“Persona 5” is slated to launch on Feb. 14, 2017, for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The Collector’s Edition of the game retails for $89.99.
