After months of waiting and speculations, the arrival of a highly-anticipated character in “Overwatch” will finally take place.

According to the game’s official website, villain Doomfist will soon appear, based on the allusions from the latest story details. “Three months after initial reports of an incident at Helix Security International’s classified maximum security installation, a more complete picture of what happened has emerged,” the post reads. “Information and details of what happened were scarce as has been any news from the installation, said to be a prison for the world’s most dangerous threats,” it went on to say.

The introduction further intensifies, but Blizzard did not give a lot of details. “However, after recent events in Numbani, it can now be confirmed that what occurred was an attack by the Talon organization with the express purpose of freeing one man: Akande Ogundimu, better known as Doomfist,” the post further stated.

The entry continues by explaining how Doomfist was freed from prison. Apparently, a “black shadowy figure” took care of the breakout, and many suggest that the unknown figure could be Reaper. Doomfist, on the other hand, has his moniker taken from the name of the powerful gauntlet he possesses. This said weapon reportedly has the power to level skyscrapers.

Meanwhile, many have been looking forward to the possibility of Terry Crews taking on the voicing chores as Doomfist. Fans who follow behind-the-scenes news about “Overwatch” can recall that Crews openly expressed his intent to become the voice the character. Moreover, he even went to the Blizzard office. However, neither Blizzard nor Crews divulged any confirmation. It is still unknown if he managed to secure any voice acting part in the game.

Back in February, rumors became strong that the 24th character slated for reveal was Doomfist. The character, however, was not the villain. Instead, Blizzard announced the addition of Orisa, the Tank-class female omnic, last March. Efi Oladele, an 11-year-old child genius, created the said robot.

Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting Blizzard’s announcement of Doomfist. However, with the teasers that the company had released, Doomfist will likely grace the game with his presence soon.
