With production underway for the highly anticipated season 3 of Starz’s period drama “Outlander,” some members of the filming crew shared behind-the-scenes photos of the set.
Production designer Jon Gary Steele took to Instagram to tease the look of the props they will use in order to give the viewers the right feel of the narrative’s time period. “Sneak Peak Season 3 cobble mats to cover roads and make a location look 18th century period correct,” he stated.
Meanwhile, executive producer Matthew B. Roberts revealed on Twitter that he is busy preparing for the upcoming new installment. “Sorry for the absence But was prepping for S3,” he tweeted alongside a black and white photo of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe).
When it comes to the narrative, the third season is expected to tackle the “Voyager” arc written by author Diana Gabaldon. However, if in the book the touted reunion between Jamie and Claire takes place inside a print shop, the show will have a different set-up.
“Well, we decided not to do it. Jamie’s going to be a wandering minstrel. He’ll be out on the road, he’s got a whole bunch of women with him. [Laughs] We’ve just decided to go in another direction. You’re going to love it!” executive producer Ronald D. Moore previously told TV Line.
However, before they go back to each other’s arms, Heughan teased that his character will face a lot of challenges. The actor hinted that the Scotsman thinks he has lost the love of his life forever when Claire went back to the present time. It remains to be seen what sort of man he becomes during her absence.
The network has yet to set the schedule for the season 3 premiere but it is expected to air sometime in 2017.
