The production for the second installment of Starz’ hit series, “Outlander” is reportedly underway with the storyline based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel titled “Dragonfly Amber.”
Although the cast and crew are keeping the details under wraps, speculations have it that the relationship between the characters of Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall, played by Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe respectively, will be tested as they travel to Paris to put an end to the Battle of Culloden.
What added to the speculations is Tobias Menzies’ Frank Randall coming back in the picture as Claire’s husband while she is currently pregnant, while more controversies may ensue with her daughter Brianna presumably taking on Frank’s surname and not Jamie’s.
Meanwhile the author of the original source materials recently teased about the upcoming season.
During her promotional tour in Phoenix, Arizona, Gabaldon shared that three more characters, who also have their own book series, will be introduced in some of the future episodes – Lord John Grey, a relative of Roger McKenzie Wakefield, and Joan MacKimmie.
Self-proclaimed fan of the small-screen adaptation, Gabaldon has penned the script for last season’s episode 11 and mentioned that one of her favorite elements that differed from what she wrote and shown to viewers is the interaction between Colum and Dougal.
She added that if the show gets picked up for season three, “Right now I am in fact working on book nine now that I’ve got done with all of the travelling this year. I’m able to sit this month and actually write…The goal is to get book 9 to come out concurrently with the third season of the show if we get a third season of the show.”
Outlander season two is expected to air in April, 2016 while the entire season one is currently available on Demand and Starz Play.
