'Outlander' season 2 news: Sophie Turner not leaving Game of Thrones to play Brianna

“Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner has finally spoken up about rumors linking her to the fan favorite character Brianna Fraser on Starz’s Outlander.

The character, who happens to be the daughter of main characters Jamie and Claire, is described as an American born and raised young woman who is strong minded, intelligent beyond her years, and blessed with an effortless charm and sparkling sense of humor.

According to Franchise Herald, it was actor Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) who floated the idea of offering the role to Turner after seeing her play Sansa Stark in HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” He retweeted a fan suggestion on social media.

However, in an interview with EW, the actress said that the chances of her taking the part is very slim as she has never seen the show yet, and given that her priority is to stick with the Game of Thrones franchise.

“Somebody mentioned [the role] to me when I was on a red carpet somewhere, that I’d make a great Brianna, and I think the guy Sam retweeted it or something. So people started talking like I was in it. I’ve never seen the show. I’m sure it’s great, but I’m loyal to my one true love!” Turner said.

This means that the search continues for the perfect Brianna after the show’s executive producer Maril Davis debunked rumors that the character has already been cast.

Meanwhile, fans of Diana Gabaldon’s Dragonfly in Amber, the second book in the Outlander series in which the second season is based, will be glad to know that the show has already cast young actor Oscar Kennedy as the young John William Grey, who will play a pivotal role in the series as his character grows older, reported TVLine.
