The struggles of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heugan) continue to surface as they deal with the Jacobite rebellion and the Battle of Culloden in France.
Titled “Useful Occupations and Deceptions,” episode 3 is expected to further complicate matters as the couple deals with the issues. The official synopsis posted on TV Guide reads, “Political machinations dominate most of Jamie’s time, while Claire puts her healing skills to use. Their plan to stop Culloden moves along, but the forward momentum is jeopardized by past actions.”
In addition to this, the upcoming episode of the television show is expected to further test the relationship of Claire and Jamie, reported Radio Times. Claire is not very pleased with the life that she is trying to live in the new country, while Jamie is on a constant mill in terms of planning. The Frasers are also constantly on each other’s throats, most likely because of the adjustments that they have to make on the side.
Nonetheless, Claire and Jamie are also expected to take some steps forward on their current situation. For one, Claire will be volunteering in the local hospital, where she can be more useful, while Jamie will be meeting Fergus, a pickpocket. As for the people who cause problems to them, it is expected to continue as a Jacobite as well as Black Jack, will continue to cause some troubles.
Meanwhile, Heugan had the chance to tell in an interview with Collider details about the show’s sophomore run in general. In terms of the differences between the first installment and this season, he said that the “threats coming in are less obvious.”
He explained, “We met St. Germain in episode 1, who is this very powerful merchant who has his fingers in pies and ties to King Louis, and he starts to muddle in their affairs. He ties back to other characters that we’ve met before and will meet in the future, who are quite powerful and who have all along been meddling in their affairs. It’s very complicated, but it’s politics.”
Episode 3 of “Outlander” season 2 will air on April 23 at 9 P.M. EST on Starz.
