Last week, the upcoming season of “Orphan Black” had a new trailer that featured someone who seemed to be trapped. Now, BBC America released a new video that paid tribute to all the characters that were killed from season 1, which included Delphine as the most recent, thus somehow confirming her fate.
Back in the final episode of season 3, Dr. Delphine Cormier (Evelyne Brochu), who is Cosima’s (Tatiana Maslany) love interest, was shot through her chest. Fans were left hanging as they were uncertain whether Delphine will make it or not.
However, the video tribute, titled “Orphan Black S1-S3: In Memoriam,” suggested the character’s fate after being included in the slideshow. It even placed the date “March 30, 2013 to June 20, 2015,” which are the start date of season 1 and the end date of season 3, respectively.
The clip showed the final scenes of the different characters before bowing to death, but injected some humor along the way as it also included unusual casualties such as Rachel’s eye, Vic’s finger, Olivier’s tail, the rest of Olivier, and Donnie’s dignity. The tribute ended with the scene of Delphine being shot.
Back in June, co-creator John Fawcett did not explicitly confirm the character’s death, although somehow suggested it in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. As he was explaining, he admitted that this will disappoint fans, but assured that the storyline was essential especially for future plots.
He explained, “Trust me, this was a necessary move to make. It’s necessary in Cosima’s story and it’s necessary going forward in subsequent seasonsin season 4 and season 5.”
Is the death of Delphine linked to the struggles of the character in its recent trailer?
Season 4 of “Orphan Black” will return to the small screen in April.
