For the third time in a row, Netflix original series “Orange Is The New Black” took home the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series award in the recently concluded 2017 Screen Actors Guild (SAG). The highly-acclaimed show will be returning for its fifth season. The upcoming season would condense a three-day event as described by one of the cast members.
Speaking to E! News during the SAG night, Danielle Brooks revealed a major hint regarding season 5’s storyline.
“Season five is done over the course of three days,” Brooks detailed.
“You will watch 13 episodes, and find out what happens in the course of three days. So, it will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready,” according to the actress who plays Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson in the series.
The 27-year-old star also shared how glad and proud she was of their nomination.
“Definitely the strong female roles, but I think that people see themselves, regardless if you’re a male or female, gay, straight, whatever religion you are, whatever color you are, you can relate to someone in that story. And it’s so truthful, and I think that’s why people relate,” Brooks stated.
In season 4, Poussey Washington (Samira Wiley) died, and Daya (Dascha Polanco) was last seen pointing a gun towards CO Humphrey (Michael Torpey). Did she pull the trigger? Some speculations suggest that the fifth season will follow the aftermath of the inmates’ riot and Poussey’s death. So, what’s going to happen in three days?
There is still no word from “Orange Is The New Black’s” production team about the release date, but Brooks believes that the show will return in summer.
Meanwhile, rumors are circulating about another cast member of the comedy-drama series. Laura Prepon is reportedly pregnant. She is engaged to “Warcraft: The Beginning” actor Ben Foster.
