'Orange is the New Black' season 4 spoilers, release date: Fans hope Red and Healy's relationship develops; Show to cast more inmates

During Season 3 of Netflix’s widely popular drama series Orange is The New Black, viewers have seen some surprising developments in a possible relationship between prison counselor Healy, played by Michael Harney, and inmate Red, portrayed by Kate Mulgrew.

Mulgrew shared her thoughts about her character on Entertainment Weekly saying: “But then our throats tighten as we watch her snuggling up to Healy over a tea tray and we blink in a kind-of disbelief as we begin to form the (by now) uncomfortably clear impression that she is flirting with Healy, and that she is using all of her albeit rusty wiles to seduce him. Dear God, we ask ourselves, why?”

“Then it comes: She wants the kitchen back. Healy recoils, stung, and Red hits him with a truism so old and so quintessentially inarguable that it stuns: A woman’s ability to seduce is the only currency she is left with, when all else fails. It is the only coin she can call her own and, if she must, she will spend it.”

In the finale episode entitled “Trust No Bitch,” Healy decided he was ready to move on from his wife and make things work with Red but the latter ominously told him that their “ships passed too late in the night for one of them to change course now.”

Although, it seemed like the flirting ended when the two were depicted on the scene and even Mulgrew apparently thought that Red just used Healy for her personal intentions, show followers are hoping that their blossoming relationship will be further realized when season four returns.

When it comes to the other cast and crew, actor Matt McGorry who plays prison guard John Bennett remained vague on whether he is coming back to the show. Breakout star Lea DeLaria as Big Boo was recently promoted to series regular, while director Andrew McCarthy has mentioned that he has begun directing season four last month.

Rumors have it that the show is looking for Dominican-type females, probably to add more prisoners as Season three ended with more inmates presumably coming to Litchfield Penitentiary.

Netflix has not announced when Season 4 will be released but fans speculate that it will air on June, 2016.
