The rumor mill is currently hot on an alleged new OnePlus phone coming soonvery soonand this time, the rising smartphone maker will be catering to users who are more inclined to fashion and design rather than giving a full power-packed device to them.
USA Today previously had the chance to interview 25-year-old OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei. Pei talked about the beginnings of the company, how the OnePlus phones were conceived, and there goals and plans for the company’s future.
One of the most interesting reveals the interview had is that they are now working on launching yet another smartphone by the end of this year.
“There’s going to be a second phone this year, before the end of the year,” said Pei. “Hopefully for Christmas.”
However, latest reportsvia Phone Arenareveal that the new OnePlus phone may be coming as soon as this month already! New specs leaked suggest that the rumored OnePlus Xas it is called in the rumor mill, after once being dubbed the OnePlus Miniwill be coming running under a Snapdragon 801 chipset, the same chip that runs on the HTC Ne M8, and the previous flagship Samsung Galaxy S5. A 5-inch display with a dual rear camera set up was also suggested by leaks, including a fingerprint scanner at the back, below the two rear cameras that also has two LED flash.
While no official price range was given, a rumored price for the upcoming new OnePlus phone puts the device at $249 per unit.
In his previous interview, Pei seemed confident that OnePlus is going well with the massive success of its first two phones, and they plan to make a name in the industry by continuing with it.
“In five years,” Pei said, “I think it will be Apple, OnePlus and Samsung because there’s no more room in the market. Everyone else would’ve died because they couldn’t reach the scale they wanted fast enough or they couldn’t have a margin to sustain their business. Look at the soft drink space: there are only two players, Pepsi and Coke.”
