The long rumored OnePlus X is finally official.

The new OnePlus X will be available for purchase starting Nov. 5 for $249. However, the process is still via invites, just like the two previous releases of the Chinese company.

True to what was repeatedly rumored, the new OnePlus X is a device that favors style over monstrous specs. But while it does not possess flagship-level hardware and software in any way, the company still does not want to call the new X a “mid-range” smartphone.

“We still don’t have a good way of categorizing this type of device,” OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei said, talking to The Verge. “We’re never going to make a phone for $100 or $150. Our goal is always to make really great products, and at that price point it’s not possible. You can’t afford to make it using these materials.”

The new OnePlus X runs using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, with 2.3 GHz quad-core CPUs and an Adreno 330 GPU. It packs 3 GB worth of RAM along with 16 GB of built-in storage capacity, expandable up to 128 GB via external microSD expansion.

It sports a 5-inch AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and with 1080p Full HD resolution.

As for the camera, it boasts a 13-megapixel main rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and ISOCELL technology for better low-light image capturing. An 8-megapixel camera graces the front, with an f/2.4 aperture and the Beauty Mode feature for enhanced photo taking of selfies and groufies.

The device is powered by a 2525 mAh LiPo battery and runs on OXygenOS, a OnePlus custom OS based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Aside from the standard Onyx variant, OnePlus will also be releasing a version of the OnePlus X that is made of zirconia ceramic. The said version is made of sand coming from Australia, and the company will only produce 10,000 units of this version. It will be sold to selected lucky users exclusively in the European region sometime around the holiday season.

The company also announced via Twitter that aside from invite-only sales, they will be holding hourly open sales throughout the month of December.
