OnePlus is slated to release an upgraded version of the OnePlus 3 reportedly called the OnePlus 3T, and while the handset is said to arrive before the year ends, many are opting to wait for the OnePlus 4, as the handset, touted to be flagship killer, is said to have impressive specs similar to premium devices at half the price. Now, more details about the smartphone have been released, including when fans can expect to get their hands on the OnePlus 4.
According to BGR, a Weibo user who posts mobile rumors on a regular basis said that the OnePlus 4 will launch in either June or July 2017. The handset is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor, which is estimated to be more battery-friendly than the current Snapdragon 820 and 821 chips.
The Snapdragon 830 is expected to be featured in many Android phones next year, including the Samsung Galaxy S8. It was said that OnePlus was able to order the chipsets from Qualcomm, which were originally intended for Samsung. But Samsung is allegedly behind schedule for the Galaxy S8, and as a result, Qualcomm is turning production of the Snapdragon 830 chips over to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
Apart from the aforementioned processor, it was said that the OnePlus 4 could have a central processing unit (CPU) running at a clock speed of 3 GHz, with an Adreno 620 graphics processing unit (GPU) inside to take care of visuals. The phone is said to have a 4,000 mAh battery and will come with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed.
The device is rumored to have 128 GB of internal storage, a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, and virtual reality support. The phone is tipped to have a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
As for the price, the smartphone is estimated to cost $400. Stay tuned for more news about the OnePlus 4.
