Over the past few weeks, there have been rumors that OnePlus is gearing up to release an upgraded version of its current flagship, the OnePlus 3. The smartphone, said to be called the OnePlus 3T, is expected to have very subtle improvements over its predecessor, and based on the tech company’s recent social media post, it appears that the handset could be announced by next week.
OnePlus has yet to confirm its plans regarding the smartphone, but on Wednesday, Nov. 9, the Chinese company tweeted a message which appears to confirm that the phone is on its way.
The Twitter post reads, “T-7: The @Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 (2.35GHz) is coming your way. Find out more on November 15.” According to the short clip that was posted along with the tweet, the OnePlus 3T will be announced at 1 p.m. EST.
Apart from the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, the device is expected to have 6 GB of random access memory (RAM), 64 GB of non-expandable storage space, and a 3,000 mAh battery. The OnePlus 3T is said to have a 5.5-inch 1080p display and is tipped to run on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The current device has an aluminum body and is available in two color options, Gray and Gold. It also has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. It was previously claimed that the OnePlus 3T might make the switch to an IPS LCD display, but it’s likely that OnePlus will keep the AMOLED screen for the upcoming device.
No reports were made about the OnePlus 3T’s cameras, but it is expected to keep the current smartphone’s 16-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front shooter.
The OnePlus 3 is priced at $399, but the OnePlus 3T is rumored to cost more as it is said to start at $479. There are also rumors that the phone could come in a 128 GB storage version.
