The rumor mill is starting to get hot as an alleged leak of an image render points to a possible feature of the rumored OnePlus 3.
OnePlus 3 is the name designated by websites for the device for the meantime as OnePlus does not have a specific pattern in terms of naming its smartphones. It started with the OnePlus One, but it was followed by OnePlus 2. The company now uses numbers instead of spelled out words.
As reported by Chinese website Mobile Dad, the alleged leaked image render of what is said to be the OnePlus 3 showed that the next flagship may very well be coming with a smooth metal black panel, unlike the usual sandstone-like back panels used for the OnePlus One as well as the OnePlus 2.
The render also showed that the embedded fingerprint scanner on the front is no longer present. This could mean several things. One, the device may feature the new Sense ID technology of Qualcomm, since this biometrics scanning feature can place the fingerprint scanner on other parts of the hardware, such as the smartphone’s display itself.
Second, a new biometrics security feature, such as the iris scanning technology, which is extremely rare for devices to have nowadays, might be featured.
The render also showed a new position for the speakers, which are now on the front of the device. Also, the smartphone’s display looked to be nearly bezel-less. The back panel features a dual-tone LED flash. As for what’s inside, it is said that the OnePlus 3 will be one of the devices that will be running under the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. However, the resolution will stay at a humble 1080p Full HD, instead of the popular Quad HD resolution these days.
