Following a long thread of rumors, speculations, and leaks, it seems that rising Chinese smartphone developer OnePlus may finally reveal its third flagship, the long rumored OnePlus 3 sometime next month.
According to mobile tipster The Malignantwith the username @the_malignant on Twitterit seems that OnePlus is gearing up the long rumored OnePlus 3 for an upcoming and nearing release. According to the leaked information, the new flagship is under a codename and is called internally as the “Predator.” This goes in line with how the company branded their most recent OnePlus 2, calling it “the killer flagship.”
The OnePlus 3, according to the tipster, will allegedly be launched next month, perhaps on June 1, with the preorders for the device starting to kick off on June 15.
However, it seems that the Chinese mobile developer will be keeping its usual method of sales, perhaps at least for a short while.
The screen capture form the alleged invitation to the event was sent out last May 10to who, it was not detailed. As for the invite system, it was not mentioned whether the release of the new OnePlus 3 will follow on the traditional release system of the company and still offer the device as an invite-only purchase or have it available via open sales immediately.
As vague as it may be, this piece of information may perhaps be the first one that talks about the release date of the OnePlus 3.
Previously, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei teased in an interview with CNET that for the next flagship, the company is seeking to try “more traditional” ways of selling their devices. In its past releases, OnePlus sold their devices through an exclusive invite-only system. However, they did offer their devices on open sales after a period of time passed.
