OnePlus 3 news: Company co-founder Carl Pei confirms new flagship for end of Q2

OnePlus recently revealed that they are planning to launch their upcoming and new flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 3, at the end of the second quarter of this year.

In a recent interview with CNET Spanish, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced that the Chinese company is planning to release a new flagship device at the end of the second quarter of 2016. The upcoming OnePlus 3 flagship will be the fourth release of the company, and the third one that will come as a flagship device.

However, aside from the planned release window, the company executive did not reveal any specific details for the devicebut he did tease a few things that fans and users can expect with their upcoming release.

In the interview, Pei teased that with the new flagship, they intend to induce the same captivating feeling that their first release, the OnePlus One, had left on fans. Pei also hinted on changes in the design, possibly leaving behind the designs of the OnePlus 2 and the most recent OnePlus X.

Also, the company co-founder noted that OnePlus will give more importance to the U.S. market this year, saying that they are planning on having “more traditional” ways of selling their products. Ever since the OnePlus One and OnePlus X, the company had implemented an invite system, making their smartphones somehow exclusive. To recall, the OnePlus X is currently on open sales after going through the usual invite-only system for almost three months.

With that, Pei said that the company would be releasing the new OnePlus 3 in the U.S. and other new major markets and will be sold unlocked and directly from the company.
