The highly anticipated season 2 of hit animated series “One Punch Man” will reportedly have three main villains and possibly more than 12 episodes.
According to reports, manga illustrator Yusuke Murata has confirmed that the team is in the first phase of production and they are updating the source materials for the adapted show. The increase in the number of installments is reportedly due to the storyline having nine volumes to tackle. However, it remains to be seen which specific arcs will be included.
There are also rumors that instead of one villain, the protagonist Saitama will get to face three new baddies such as Garou, Lord Boros and Amai Mask. Based on the original source materials, Garou has been trained by Silver Fang in using “Water Stream Rock” but was kicked out due to his knowledge of different martial arts styles that have more power.
On the other hand, Lord Boros is head of the Dark Matter Thieves that fought Saitama in the season finale but may comeback to have his revenge. Lastly, Amai Mask is the highest ranked hero in the A-Class, and also works as an actor and a singer. Although he believes that heroes should be models for the general public, it is believed that he may have a darker personality that will come out soon. He also laughs at the S-Class heroes for their failures.
However, since there is no official preview yet, available information should be taken with a grain of salt. More details are expected to be released in the following months.
On a related note, a press release from North American publisher Viz Media revealed that the freshman run dubbed in English will start airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami on July 16. Some of the voice actors who will give life to the characters are Max Mittelman for Saitama, Zach Aguilar for Genos, Robbie Daymond for Hero Mumen Rider, and Erik Kimerer as Speed ‘o’ Sound Sonic.
