“One Piece” will be getting a new Winter anime special in December, as announced via the official “One Piece” website, and will feature the return of a classic villain to once again face against The Strawhats.
The anime, based on the worldwide hit manga, will air its Winter special on December 19, titled “One Piece ~Adventure of Nevlandia~”. The special will mark the first time the “One Piece” anime has ever had a Winter special aired. The announcement also detailed the plot for the upcoming special.
“One Piece ~Adventure of Nevlandia~” features a non-canon and completely original story that takes place in a timeline separate from the main story. Monkey D. Luffy and the entire Strawhats stumble upon a fog island on the New World that has “Devil Fruit blocking” abilities, rendering any Devil Furit users powerless once they set foot on the island.
In the special, the crew will once again meet their enemy pirate crew back from the Davy Back Fight arc, the Foxy Pirates.
While the Strawhats have significantly changed and gotten stronger since their last encounter, Foxy also now has three new crewmatesD?jack, Kansh?, and K?mei, a master tactician. K?mei was able to devise a plan that led to Sanji and Zoro getting caged in a cell, unable to escape on their own. Chasing after their captured friends, the Strawhats ended up on the island of Nevlandia, an island surrounded by a fog of sea water, with the same effect to a Devil Fruit eater as that of a sea stone exposure, rendering them powerless.
The most recent special episode of the “One Piece” anime was the “One Piece: Episode of Sabo” event, where the end of the special announced the coming of the new film on Summer of 2016.
“One Piece” former anime director Knosuke Uda will helm the special episode. “One Piece ~Adventure of Nevlandia~” will air on December 19 from 9:00 p.m. to 11:10 p.m. on Fuji TV.
