'Once Upon a Time' updates: Season 5b premiere picks up from Underworld, season 6 may focus on story of two brothers

The long wait is almost over for “Once Upon a Time” season 5 as the second half will premiere in just three days.

Episode 12, titled “Souls of the Departed,” will pick up from the Underworld, which will not only see the introduction of Hades (Greg Germann), but also the Evil Queen facing the people she killed in the past.

The story will make Evil Queen Regina (Lana Parilla) reconcile, mend, and take the path toward her redemption. In addition, it will also explore the story of Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and the rest of her family and friends who are trying to rescue Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue).

According to Edward Kitsis, one of the executive producers of the show, “The second half is going to be very similar to the first season in that we’re going to see Storybrooke as a place of people with unfinished business,” reported the spoiler room of Entertainment Weekly.

He added, “We have to wonder if we can’t help them find their happy endings even in the afterlife.”

Meanwhile, even before the midseason premiere of season 5, there are already scoops noted on TVLine for season 6. No official announcement has been made for the renewal of a new season, but according to the same report, should the show continue, the story may focus on two brothers.

The network is reportedly casting recurring roles of two brothers, where one will play the role of a dominant but morally questionable and power-hungry person, while the other will portray the “weaker” sibling who wants to escape his brother. The characters will reportedly be introduced in the last two episodes of the show and is expected to spillover into the new season.

“Once Upon a Time” season 5 will premiere on Mar. 6 at 8 P.M. on ABC for its 100th episode.
