“Once Upon a Time” season 6 is shaping up to be a great one as early as now. On top of the changes in format, the ABC series is also bringing back a fan favorite character in Jiminy Cricket’s human alter ego, Dr. Archie Hopper.
TV Line exclusively reports that original cast member Raphael Sbarge is back on board to reprise his role. The news came with a special comment from series co-creator Adam Horowitz saying, “and our favorite cricket-shrink is going to find himself with a new patient.”
The last time Archie was seen in the fairy tale drama was back in season 4 when the “Frozen” storyline was unravelling. And with his impending comeback, fans can expect that the show has something good in store for his character.
Aside from returning game-players, the upcoming iteration of “Once Upon a Time” will delve deeper into characters from the Land of Untold Stories. The new world was already given an introduction in season 5. Horowitz also revealed that Regina’s arc will also take center stage in season 6.
“The intent is that these new characters and new stories are really a reflection on what’s going on inside of our characters. With Lana and the Evil Queen, that’s the starkest example, which we’ve already teased. We’re literally going inside her and pulling her apart. There are elements of that that we’re planning to do for each and everyone of the characters,” the executive producer told Natalie Abrams from Entertainment Weekly.
Regina took on a big risk by trying to eliminate the Evil Queen last season by ripping her heart out. But, just when everyone thought that the villain was already gone, she makes an eerie appearance during the final moments of season 5. The show is also set to drop its half-season story arcs, making the show more conducive for extensive storytelling which fans have been hoping for,
“Once Upon a Time” season 6 will premiere on Sept. 25 and will air every Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET.
