“Once Upon a Time” season 5 will be returning from its midseason break in March with the evil queen facing those she killed in the past.
Titled “Souls of the Departed,” episode 12 of season 5 and the 100th episode of the television show, the story will be a bit unusual compared to the previous episodes as the evil queen Regina (Lana Parilla) will be in the underworld, where all the people she has killed in the past stays.
According to the actress in a scoop by Entertainment Weekly, Regina will be ready to face them. “She wants to confront these souls and these people that she has hurt, that she has killed.”
She added, “She’s on the right path, and she’s still on the path of redemption. She still wants to make amends with people and still trying to do the right thing. She’s really embracing the hero within her.”
The underworld seems to portray hell, but on the contrary, it is not, as it serves as a place to make right, get closure, and solve unfinished business, revealed iDigital Times. This will also be one of the central themes in the second half of the show.
Meanwhile, as Regina carries out her mission in the underworld, she will encounter quite a number of past characters such as The Blind Witch (Emma Caulfield), Cora (Barbara Hershey), Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit), Milah (Rachel Shelley), Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), Prince Henry (Tony Perez), and Sidney Glass (Giancarlo Esposito).
Aside from this, the episode may preempt the next episode, as Hercules and Meg, played by Jonathan Whitesell and Kacey Rohl, respectively, are set to appear in episode 13, titled “Labor of Love.”
“Once Upon a Time” season 5 will return on March 6 at 8 P.M. on ABC for its 100th episode.
