As the anticipation continues to build up for the Nokia 8, a trusted tipster gave the public a first look of the smartphone.
Android Authority reported that renowned blogger and phone leaker Evan Blass shared an official render of the upcoming device. Based on the images, the Nokia 8 will sport two rear-facing cameras powered by Carl Zeiss optics. The cameras also offer resolutions at 13 megapixels. It will also feature a 5.3-inch QHD display. A Snapdragon 835 chipset will reportedly power the device.
Prospective users can also choose between two variants: one with a 4GB RAM and another with 6GB RAM. Blass also shared in an article on VentureBeat that the Nokia 8 will run on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Apart from the first batch of leaked renders, Blass followed it up with another set of images. The second leak showed the Nokia 8 in silver, which contrasts the dark blue color of the first.
Prior to the leaked official render, Blass leaked a promotional video in May, showing a glimpse of how the Nokia 8 looked. “What interests me about this video [https://vimeo.com/217476759 ] is that it shows 4 smartphones, but Nokia only sells 3 (none w dual lens),” posted Blass.
As for the smartphone’s official launching, the device will reportedly be released on July 31. When it comes to the possible price tag, VentureBeat reported that a Scandinavian retailer listed the device at €589. When converted to USD, it will cost roughly around $675.
Meanwhile, BGR reported that HMD Global, the company that develops Nokia devices, is gearing up for the Nokia 9. The smartphone will reportedly come out later this year. In addition, it is expected to perform better than the Nokia 8.
With Nokia going full swing in the smartphone wars, it is interesting to see how the Nokia 8 will fare against the flagships of some of the industry giants like Samsung and Apple.
