Rumors have it that HTC may be releasing a new smartphone dubbed as “HTC A9 Aero” to counter the reported poor sales of HTC One M9 in the market.
Leaked images circulating the web recently show a handheld dummy with HTC’s label. Some speculate that it may be HTC A9 in yellow gold version and the company seems to create a device which has a striking resemblance with Apple’s iPhone 6.
Mobile Mag reports that when iPhone 6 and the alleged HTC A9 are put side-to-side, it is difficult to tell them apart at a first glance. The latter is said to have a rounded edge for a smoother looking interface and has an antenna with white plastic stripes that is similar with the former’s design. The notable difference can be found on the position of the camera wherein HTC A9 is located at the top and on the middle.
It is also noted though that the camera’s location is similar to HTC M8.
The report added that when it comes to specifications, HTC A9 may have 5.2-inch screen in high quality display with 2560×1440 resolution. Under the hood, it may have Mediatek deca-core Helio X20 chipset partnered with 4GB of RAM. The battery may boast a powerful 3,500mAh capacity. It may also become the first Android smartphone in the company’s flagship series to have the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
Probably to further compete with top-end devices from tech giants such as Apple and Samsung, the phone is expected to become available in gold and dark gray colors.
No official announcement has been made yet by the Chinese manufacturer, but it is predicted that HTC may launch their next-in-line phone during their usual October launch window or on November.
All the information available are speculation as of the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt.
