The season finale of “New Girl” gave the people in apartment 4D their happy ending.
In the latest episode, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) was looking for a perfect time to express her romantic feelings for Nick (Jake Johnson), who just broke up with Reagan (Megan Fox). With some persuading from Schmidt (Max Greenfield), the eccentric new writer realized that he still has feelings for Jess.
After a chasing session, Nick and Jess kissed inside the elevator.
Meanwhile, Cece’s (Hannah Simone) gynecologist, Sadie (June Diane Raphael), broke the pregnancy news to her patient’s friends and her husband Schmidt, who gave a sweet surprise to Cece.
As for Ally (Nasim Pedrad) and Winston (Lamorne Morris), the former recovered the phone number of his dad, who walked out on him and his mom. Winston finally gave his father a call.
Is this the end of the comedy show?
“The truth is we really, really don’t know what the answer is. The general scuttlebutt is good and positive that we will be coming back,” executive producer Brett Baer revealed to Entertainment Weekly during his interview alongside co-showrunner Dave Finkel.
As of this writing, Fox network has not announced a season renewal of the highly-acclaimed sitcom, which recently concluded its sixth season.
“They’re not telling us to tear the sets down, we’re not clearing out our offices, so we really we tell the crew, we’ve told the actors we legitimately know nothing,” Finkel stated.
Regarding the finale episode, Finkel expressed that they went all-in as much as possible but left some things to be tackled and played upon once the series is scheduled to return to the small screen.
“At the same time, we also were on the phone with the network and the studio pitching them our season 7, which they were really excited about and are really into and liked all of our ideas,” Baer added.
