'Need for Speed' news: Patch 1 titled 'Icons' released today; new cars, daily challenges, trophies included


A new patch for “Need for Speed” has just been released, and it promises a lot of upgrades for the racing car video game including new icons and improved ways to customize a player’s chosen car.

Given that it is the first patch that the developer of the game is releasing, there might still be a lot to improve on. Still, fans are getting excited because it is packed with numerous features, which will improve overall gaming experience.

“Need for Speed’s” update 1.03 is titled “Icons” and will be addressing feedbacks raised by the community of gamers including Al Rubber banding and even adding a few more iconic cars in the pool of automobiles players can choose from. Ghost Games, the developer of the video game, also added a roster of brand new daily challenges to keep things interesting.

Furthermore, new trophies and achievements can also be unlocked during the game including Fanboi, which lets any of the new icon cars in one’s garage, Iconoclast, which allows a player to win an event with each of the new icon cars, and lastly, the Mental Unblock which gifts a player 350,000 Drift Score in Mental Block using Ken’s car.

As for the aforementioned new cars, Ghost Games announced on their official website,”If you’ve already begun your journey through Ventura Bay, you may have got your hands on Nakai-san’s Porsche or the 277 of Magnus Walker. In the next update Ken Block’s Hoonicorn and Morohoshi’ Lamborghini Diablo SV will also be able to be obtained. If you’ve already completed their respective missions the cars will be waiting in the garage for you to purchase, at no cost.”

On top of all the upgrades, bugs and glitches that were constantly plaguing the game have been addressed. The full game will be available at certain retailers in the U.S. this Black Friday for $39.99
