CBS’ long-running series “NCIS” is currently on a three-week hiatus for season 14. When the drama returns to the small screen, the team will investigate a case involving threats against a state leader.
Titled “Pay to Play,” episode 9 will have actress Mary Stuart Masterson guest starring as congresswoman Jenna Flemming. The NCIS is tasked to find the source of the escalating threats. Director Leon Vance (Rocky Caroll) oversees temporary protection detail.
Down the line, episode 10 dubbed “The Ties That Binds” features Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) taking a trip down memory lane. It turns out that Ducky will begin to question the choices he made 37 years ago after evidence of a murder case is linked to his deceased mother. The team discovers clues from the recent death of a Navy captain.
Elsewhere, the team will be getting in the holiday spirit as they exchange gifts with each other. Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) then spends Christmas dinner with Senior FBI Agent T.C Fornell (Joe Spano).
It can be recalled that the recently released installment had Thanksgiving as its theme. In an interview with TV Line, star Emily Wickersham who portrays Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop revealed that it is one of her favorites to date as viewers got to know more about her character’s family with the arrival of her three brothers.
“I always love the episodes where we get to learn more about Bishop’s family, and have more character things come out. That’s always the most fun to play. And this one especially, I loved how there’s a major mix of a lot of fun and then some super-serious stuff. And there are also some really sweet things,” she said.
In describing Ellie’s siblings, Wickersham mused that her youngest brother Robbie (Jesse Johnson) is probably the most similar to her in terms of mannerisms. Her oldest sibling George and other brother John were played by Ryan Doom and Jesse Bradford, respectively.
Season 14 episode 9 of “NCIS” is slated to air on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. EST. It will be followed by episode 10 on Dec. 13.
