“NCIS: Los Angeles” is returning for its eighth season in a few weeks, and ahead of the new installment, series star LL Cool J revealed a shocking development in the show, saying that someone is going to die in season 8.
Speaking with E! Online at the CBS, The CW, Showtime Summer Television Critics Association party last week, the star hinted that fans might have to say goodbye to one of the team members.
“#Somebody’s got to die,” said the actor. “#Somebody’s got to go, you know? #Changes. #You need to watch.”
It was speculated that LL Cool J could be referring to the mole within the Office of Special Projects (OSP). The official logline for the season 8 premiere indicates that the team will be under investigation by the Under Secretary of the Navy following the identification of a potential traitor in the department.
When asked whether Kensi (Daniela Ruah) could be the mole, the actor didn’t say, but did share that the actress’ real-life pregnancy sparked a lot of creativity in the writer’s room.
“We don’t really write around them,” said LL Cool J. “We just accommodate them and sometimes you can use those positive life experiences as a way to build on.”
Ruah previously spoke with Enstarz and said that her pregnancy has brought on reasons to hide it in the series, which was inspired by a very particular storyline this season.
“Something very drastic happens to the whole team,” said Ruah. “Kensi is affected by that a little more, and that poses obstacles and a big long trajectory for Kensi and Deeks [Eric Christian Olsen].”
Apart from the investigation, the team will also be forced to take on a High Value Target case that puts a Syrian terrorist front and center. Everyone will have to be at their best while their every step is being watched.
“NCIS: Los Angeles” season 8 premieres on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
