'NBA 2K17' player ratings news: LeBron James gets highest rating at 96; Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Kawhi Leonard are top 5

The king is back as LeBron James climbs back to the top of the player ratings in “NBA 2K17.”

PlayStation Lifestyle recently published a list containing the 18 highest-rated players and LeBron gets the top spot with 96 points after leading his Cleveland Cavaliers to the title last June.

Golden State Warriors guard and two-time National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Stephen Curry gets the second spot with 94 points, while his new teammate, Kevin Durant, is tied with triple-double machine Russell Westbrook with 93 points. Two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Kawhi Leonard also gets a player rating of 93 points.

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul has a rating of 91 points this year, while Klay Thompson and his Warriors teammate, Draymond Green, both have 90 points to their name. The 20152016 Shaqtin’ a Fool MVP James Harden also has 90 points in his player rating and so do big men Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins.

Indiana Pacers franchise player Paul George falls below 90 this year with a rating of 89. Cavaliers’ guard Kyrie Irving and Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard also have ratings of 89. Rounding up the top 18 are Carmelo Anthony, Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, and John Wall. The four of them have a player rating of 88.

The list confirms that the Warriors will become the first team in “NBA 2K” history to have four players with a player rating of 90 and above. As Hit the Pass noted a couple of months back, no foursome has ever been rated that high before. The publication also believed that the 20162017 Warriors team will be the highest-rated team ever, beating the 19861987 Lakers, 19851986 Celtics, and 19951996 Bulls teams.

Fans don’t have to wait long for the game since “NBA 2K17” is scheduled to hit the shelves on Sept. 20. The game will be available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
