The Australian Boomers, the national team of the Aussies, will be making an appearance in the latest installment of 2K Games’ National Basketball Association (NBA) video game series, “NBA 2K17.” The Australian basketball team is the second national team to be added in the game, and the first one outside the United States to be added. The first team that was included in the game was the U.S. team.
In a report by AusGamers, the Boomers would be making their first-ever appearance in a major video game title. The current lineup of the Australian Boomers that would be featured in the game as part of the playable team includes David Andersen, Cameron Bairstow, Aron Baynes, Andrew Bogut, Ryan Broekhoff, Matthew Dellavedova, Dante Exum, Chris Goulding, Joe Ingles, Kevin Lisch, Damian Martin, Patrick Mills, and Brock Motum.
The lineup of players may still change, as the game is yet to be released, and there might still be changes or additions in the roster that would be included in the game, especially since 2K Games intends to deliver a balance between the players across teams.
The Australian Boomers, aside from their upcoming debut in the hit sports game franchise, will also be competing in Rio for this year’s Olympics a month before the team graces the game with their appearance as a playable team. Some of the key players in the current lineup of the real-life team include NBA Champions Dellavedova, Bogut, Mills and Baynes.
This year’s “NBA 2K” installment features Paul George as the cover athlete. George, a three-time NBA All Star, also played for the United States men’s national basketball team. Aside from the standard edition of the game, the “Legend Edition,” featuring Kobe Bryant on the cover and comes with additional free in-game items, is up for pre-order.
“NBA 2K17” is set to be released on Sept. 20 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and for the PC.
