A new game for the “Naruto” series has been officially announced, slated to release across mobile platforms.

Titled “Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Blazing,” the game was officially announced when the official website for the game went up just recently. Reports indicate that the game will be made for mobile phones, with releases for the Android and iOS platforms expected sometime later this year in Japan.

Gameplay for “Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Blazing” will follow a turn-based format, although specifics are still unreleased. Development for the game is the product of a collaboration between CyberConnect2, the developer of the “Ultimate Ninja” and “Ultimate Ninja Storm” series of “Naruto” video games, and mobile company GREE.

As the title carries the “Shippuden” addendum and promotional image features younger or pre-time skip (PTS) versions of some characters, “Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja” is expected to follow the “Ultimate Ninja Storm” practice of featuring various versions of “Naruto” characters.

Signs of the game first rose in February when Bandai Namco Entertainment, the publisher for video games in the “Naruto” series, listed a trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The listing’s details already indicated that the game will be released to mobiles as the title was trademarked with a “9” on the Nice Classification. Interestingly, the trademark was listed Feb. 9, the same date that “Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4” was released.

“Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4” was the sixth installment in the “Ultimate Ninja Storm” series and currently believed to be the final one. The game’s story mode reached right up to the end of the “Naruto” manga’s storyline, featuring the fight against Kaguya Ootsutsuki and the final battle between Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha.

For the upcoming “Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Blazing,” it was speculated that the game’s story, if it were to feature one, would take more from the next generation “Boruto” series than the previous game or at least feature more characters from it.

Further details about the game are scarce at the moment, but “Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Blazing” is expected to be released later this year. The game also now has a Twitter account.
