There is still no definite date for the airing of “Narcos” season 3. However, what is certain is that Netflix renewed the series. Moreover, fans can expect the hit crime drama to come out sometime during fall of 2017.

After Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) died in the second season finale, a new drug cartel will emerge. The Christian Post reported that replacing the Medellin Cartel formerly helmed by Escobar is the Cali Cartel. One of the show’s actors Pedro Pascal who plays Javier Peña gave a brief background on the said cartel.

“They took over Miami after Pablo was killed and they already owned New York so there’s a lot of cocaine in season 3,” said Pascal in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel last February. The actor also said that people kept “doing cocaine” even after Escobar’s death in 1993. “We go after the [California] cartel, people know a lot less about the Cali cartel, including myself,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gold Derby reported that “Narcos” and Netflix producers submitted Moura’s name for Emmys consideration for the Best Actor award. Moura took on the daunting task of playing Escobar for two seasons while getting praises for his acting.

Aside from Moura, the producers also submitted the names of Pascal, Maurice Compte (Horacio Carrillo), Boyd Holbrook (Steve Murphy), and Eric Lange (Bill Stechner), but for the Best Supporting Actor category.

Moreover, the producers also submitted other entries like Best Drama Series and Best Drama Supporting Actress (Paulina Gaitan). They also entered a number of episodes from season 2 for different categories such as Best Drama Writing, Best Picture Editing, Best Production Design, and Best Sound Editing, among others.

Voting began last June 12 and the list of nominees will come out on July 13. The Emmys, on the other hand, will take place on Sept. 17. Viewers at home can watch it live on CBS.
