Following the success of romantic comedy “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” in 2002, Universal Studios will release the film’s sequel, titled “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” on March 25.
The story will continue to revolve aroudn the life of the Portokalos family. However, the story will also feature Paris (Elena Kampouris), the Portokalos’ granddaughter. Chaos will arise after her whole family will meddle with her life.
The promo video released showed scenes where Paris got humiliated after her whole family surprised her and came to watch her volleyball game at school. It also showed the anxiety of her parents when she began applying for a slot in a university in Texas and New York.
Meanwhile, Paris’ parents, Toula Portokalos-Miller (Nia Vardalos) and Ian Miller (John Corbett) want to have some quality time for themselves. As Paris explores adolescence and learns to be intimate with the opposite sex, her parents try to have some fun.
The trailer featured a funny scene where Toula and Ian were being intimate inside their car, when suddenly, Toula’s dad, Gus Portokalos (Michael Constantine) knocked at the car’s window.
Likewise, Gus and Maria (Lainie Kazan) Portokalos discovered that the priest who officiated their wedding did not actually sign their wedding contract.
Lead actress Vardalos teased about the possibility of a third sequel during an interview with NBC Today in August 2015. She mentioned that she “whispered an idea” in Corbett’s ear “the other night for number three.”
Directed by Kirk Jones and written by Vardalos, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” will be in theaters on March 25.
