'Mr. Robot' season 2 cast news: Grace Gummer joins the show as an FBI agent investigating Evil Corp Hack

Critically acclaimed “Mr. Robot” is gearing for a darker and better season 2 which is slated to premiere sometime this upcoming summer. The first season of the ground breaking TV show created by Sam Esmail set up a pretty spectacular stage for another season.

Now that it has already been established that Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) only exists inside the mind of Elliot (Rami Malek), fans are curious how the turn of the story will continue given that it has arguably been the hook in the whole story.

Esmail revealed to a handful of press outlets during the recent Television Critics Association Press tour in California that even when he was still penning the story as a feature film, the secret of Mr. Robot as a figure of Elliot’s imagination was supposed to be divulged in the first act. He continued to explain that the essence of the story is Elliot finding out that thing about him and the things he does to cope with it. After finding out what will happen henceforth, a series of flashbacks will also be tackled to further understand Elliot’s background and origin.

Latest news, however, suggested that on top of Elliot trying to understand more of why Mr. Robot continues to appear in his delusions, another conflict will be coming his way. Grace Gummer will be on board as a series regular playing Dominique “Dom” DiPierro, a young FBI field agent tasked to investigate Evil Corp Hack which was masterminded by Elliot with directions coming from Mr. Robot. It only gets more interesting now that Elliot has an FBI agent trying to dig up his crime.

As previously reported, filming for the second season starts March with a tentative airing date on The USA Network this coming June.
