Following the teases that there will be a new downloadable content pack, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment finally confirmed that they are indeed developing another one for “Mortal Kombat X.”
Announced in their official website, the statement reads, “The new content will include four new playable characters, skins and a new environment, all of which will be available in the first half of 2016.”
The hype all started when NetherRealm studio head Ed Boon posted on his Twitter some hints pointing to the classic 2011’s Mortal Kombat arena, “The Pit” possibly having a comeback. He then shared an image showing silhouettes of four characters with the words “Who’s Next?” and captioned it with, “Tomorrow?”
Although specific details are kept under wraps, fans are beginning to speculate on who may be included.
Screen Rant shares their best guesses that in addition to Jason Voorhees, Predator, Tanya, and Tremor who are parts of the first DLC, the roster may have Baraka, The Joker, one of the cyborgs and Bo’ Rai Cho. Basing from the outlines that have been teased, the cyborg may be Cyrax, Smoke, or Sektor.
Baraka’s character has been used by some gamers who were able to hack into the game after discovering that his move set and animations are already incorporated in the title.
The report added that it is also plausible to choose from fan favorites such as Noob Saibot, Rain, Sindel, Elvira, Kabal, Kylo Ren, Indiana Jones and Neo.
The news for the DLC presumably called as “Kombat Pack 2” came after Warner Bros. Interactive revealed that ports for older generation consoles such as Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are cancelled for good. A new patch has also been released with glitches reportedly that makes Tanya more powerful than her opponents.
The game is now only available for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
