Rumors of the much awaited and highly anticipated Kombat Pack 3 for the hit fighting game “Mortal Kombat X” have been rekindled anew when “Mortal Kombat” co-creator and NetherRealm Studios director Ed Boon teased the possibility of something new for the game that would be announced in the upcoming Evolution Championship Series (EVO) tournament.
In his recent post over at his official Twitter account, Boon said that while the studio may still be fresh from announcing the “Injustice 2” and making reveals about it in the past few weeks, that they are set to reveal something new regarding “Mortal Kombat X.”
What was interesting in the post was the way that the game director had typed it in his status. Boon, as he gave the tweet, typed the letters E, V, and O in parts of the tweet as upper case letters while he typed the rest in lower case letters. This was taken as a not so subtle hint as to the day when they are planning to reveal the abovementioned news about the game. EVO 2016 is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from July 15 to 17.
While there were no indication that this is the long awaited Kombat Pack 3 which is in itself was already confirmed to be coming, but was only uncertain as to when fans had been expecting that the reveal for the much awaited new downloadable content (DLC) would be made at the event.
As for the upcoming “Injustice 2,” Boon, in a previous interview with Game Informer, teased and hinted on the possibility of having guest characters from “Mortal Kombat X” in the upcoming DC Universe fighting game.
“I always think there’s a novelty to it and there’s a certain amount of people who think that when they see a guest character that it took the slot of a DC character that they wanted to have,” he said.
“But you know, Scorpion in ‘Injustice’ was the most downloaded of all the characters. There was a coolness and a novelty factor to seeing the mixing of the things. Alien and Predator in ‘Mortal Kombat X’ were the most downloaded of those, so I would be surprised if we didn’t do any of that [in Injustice 2].”
“Mortal Kombat X” is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and mobile devices.
